Think Souls

What do you think of when you hear, “Think souls?” I remember hearing this phrase for the first time 7 years ago when the Bear Valley church of Christ began a campaign called, Think Souls. That little phrase brought several images to my mind of people that I meet or even ignore every day and I didn’t even consider their soul. To think souls means to put on God-tinted glasses so you can see people the way God does.

This means we should see each person as someone who is not just grocery shopping, walking their dog, mowing their lawn, driving to work, riding their bike, etc.… but as someone who is stopping off on their way to either Hell or Heaven. It is to recognize that your children are not truly your own, but are souls entrusted to you by God to train up in the admonition of the Lord.

If we are truly thinking about people’s souls, then we will look beyond what is on the outside. We don’t let clothes, worldly status, or skin color determine if they get to hear the gospel. We go beyond personality, character traits, preferences and philosophies. We will recognize that beneath all of that is a soul. A soul that God wanted to save. A soul for whom God sent His Son.

I implore you to start thinking souls. Go beyond the external things and see the people around you the way God sees them.

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.”

-          John 3:16
