Remember Me

As I write this article, the memorial service for President George H.W. Bush is on my television screen. Many individuals close to the Bush family have shared their memories and offered insight into his life. It is no surprise that all these individuals have shared their most positive moments with the former President. It has been great to hear about things that none of us would have known otherwise.

As I have been watching others remember what a wonderful man President Bush was, I recall how we are to remember our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ every first day of the week. Luke records for us, “When the hour had come, He reclined at the table, and the apostles with Him. And He said to them, “I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer; for I say to you, I shall never again eat it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.” And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He said, “Take this and share it among yourselves; for I say to you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine from now on until the kingdom of God comes.” And when He had taken some bread and given thanks, He broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” And in the same way He took the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in My blood” (22:14-20).

Remember what Jesus has done for you, and the entire world, by giving His body and His Blood. Let’s not only remember the Lord on Sunday, but everyday as we try to walk as He did.
