Do You Value Your Soul?

In Matthew 16, we read, “Then Jesus said to His disciples, ‘If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me. For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? For the Son of Man is going to come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and will then repay every man according to his deeds.’”(16:24–27)

Jesus gives us a “profit and loss statement” in verse 26: “For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?” So much of our world revolves around how we can make a profit.  How does this situation help me? If I do this thing, will it increase my value in some way? Jesus challenges us to think differently and to understand that the one and only soul you have is more valuable than anything else.  Do not get things twisted and turned around, where your soul spends eternity is more important than anything else!
